El ataque de Uchumayo es una marcha militar peruana compuesta por el músico peruano Manuel Bañón hacia 1835. Originalmente se llamaba “La Salaverrina”, en homenaje a Felipe Santiago Salaverry, jefe del gobierno peruano de entonces, pero luego adoptó su nombre actual, en conmemoración a la victoria peruana de Uchumayo sobre los invasores bolivianos. El dúo Montes y Manrique llenó de historia la música peruana al ser los primeros peruanos en registrar sonoramente la música popular peruana a través de grabaciones que hicieron en 1911 en la ciudad de New York. Pero muy poco es lo que se ha escrito, menos investigado, sobre dichas grabaciones que el dúo Montes y Manrique llevó a cabo, a pesar de la importancia que tiene dentro de la historia de la música peruana.
